The formation of Flying Boat Tap Room and the filing of Flying Boat Tap Room as a LLC all came about in 2018.

Flying Boat Tap Room is about fine food, incredible beer, and unique history. The endeavor, for Flying Boat Tap Room, originated with the association of the Flying Boat’s history and sharing the said history of these remarkable aircraft and it’s era.

The Building

Flying Boat Tap Room is located at 9672 SE 58th, Avenue, Ocala, Florida. Permitting has been approved and construction is underway.

Equipment

The purchasing, removal, transporting, designing, and installation of the commercial restaurant equipment.

The focus is to incorporate as much local and Florida input as possible. The passion we have for Florida, all of us born and bred Floridians… no really, there is such a person, instilled the drive to promote Florida Craft Beer while preserving various parts of  Florida’s history. What most would consider waste, we preserved those products and utilized them for a purpose.

Custom Wooden Tables

The tables are constructed from two combined wood sources. A local Florida Cedar, which was collected from Florida swamps and local trees that were cut down or fallen for other reasons, and a 100 year old silo that has a story within itself with the original receipt for the wood supplied.

Fresh cut local cedar is supplied by Chris Hoefly, an airstrip owner, that will be used for our custom bar and tables.

Reclaimed Lumber As Wood Wall Panel

Silver Springs Bottled Water Company, our neighbor and local business, has provided wood from pallets used for delivery and sales of their water cases. Generally the wood is used elsewhere or discarded. Flying Boat Tap Room was offered the use of the wood, by one of the owners, which was gladly accepted.

Tim and Bill took the pallet wood, ran it through a planer, sized with a table saw, and squared the ends with a chop saw. They applied a color variety of stain to the wood, allowed to dry, and finished with a coat of polyurethane. A lot of work for numerous small pieces of wood.

The wood was handed over to Gulf Breeze Wood & Vinyl for installation. The hard work by all involved, I think you will agree to be astonishing.
